Austin Elite Rugby is excited to announce the signing of Backrower, Dylan Pieterse
ROUND ROCK (TX) – Austin Elite Rugby is excited to announce the signing of Dylan Pieterse from Johannesburg, South Africa. Pieterse had recently been with the Boland Cavaliers for the Supersport Challenge Cup before deciding to transition into Major League Rugby.
At just 11 years old, Pieterse began playing rugby for his school in Johannesburg. In 2011 he got the call up to represent the Golden Lion’s. In 2012 and 2013 he played for the KES first team. His size and agility on the pitch set him apart from most backrowers and in 2015 he got the call up for the Blue Bulls academy, but shortly was picked up by the Pumas U19 squad. That same year he was named “Pumas U19 Player of Year.” Pieterse was then rostered for the Pumas U21 side for the Provincial Championship in 2015.
In 2016 Pieterse moved to Australia to join the Perth-based Western Force’s Future Force program. There he was playing club rugby for Cottesloe in the Premier-Grade league in Western Australia. He made sixteen appearances amongst the competitions. Later he made a return home to South Africa to join the Eastern Province Kings for the 2016 Currie Cup. Since he has been playing with the Boland Cavilers.
Welcome, Dylan to the Lone Star State!
