AUSTIN GILGRONIS TAKE ON OLD GLORY DC AT SAN ANTONIO’S TOYOTA FIELD FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL CUISINE SOLUTIONS’ CUP
On February 29 the Austin Gilgronis will battle for the first annual Cuisine Solutions’ Cup with 2020 expansion franchise, Old Glory DC. The match will be played in San Antonio at Toyota Field as one of the Gilgronis’ home matches.
The Gilgronis and Old Glory plan to compete for ownership of the Cuisine Solutions’ Cup season after season beginning February 29, 2020 at 3pm CT.
The cup’s sponsor, Cuisine Solutions, is the leading sous-vide manufacturer of high-quality prepared gourmet entrees, sauces, and other menu items to food service providers worldwide. Cuisine Solutions will open its fourth U.S. plant at Brooks in San Antonio later this year, adding more than 500 jobs to the South Side over four years. Founder and Chairman, Stanislas Vilgrain is an avid rugby player and fan, “The Cuisine Solutions’ Cup is a unique opportunity; bringing together innovative food and passionate rugby supporters. Celebrating the Cuisine Solutions growth in San Antonio by becoming the largest sous-vide manufacturing plant at Brooks, engaging in the match between two passionate teams, Old Glory DC and the Austin Gilgronis, and honoring our military.
“After last year’s solid fan turnout it was a no brainer to take the team back out to San Antonio,” said Gilgronis CEO Matt Burgess. “We’ve found that our fan base stretches across much of central Texas and we’re excited to up the stakes for our San Antonio fans with the Cuisine Solutions’ Cup on the line.”
“Every Cuisine Solutions event is done with taste and style, so I can’t wait to see how it all goes down with a Gilgronis,” said Old Glory DC Chairman Chris Dunlavey. “Cuisine Solutions is a company that really gets rugby and meshes with the rugby culture, so they’re the perfect partner for this Cup series. It’s even better that we’ll compete against such a respected founding MLR member as Austin. We can’t wait to meet them in San Antonio.”
At the Cuisine Solutions’ Cup the Austin Gilgronis will also pay tribute to the men and women armed service members as San Antonio is home to one of the largest concentration of military bases in the United States. San Antonio has had a military presence for over 300 years and the Gilgronis hope to make our armed service members proud.
Gilgronis’ Director of Rugby Mick Byrne has had this match circled on the calendar since joining the team.
“The Cuisine Solutions’ Cup will be an important stop for our season as we’ll be representing more than the team, the Austin community, and Texas; we’ll be representing the United States Armed Forces so we’ll have to turn in up that extra notch.”
